Stillness, does it work?
I was listening to A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose podcast on my commute home. Tolle talked to a caller who said that she wanted her child to grow up to be an enlightened adult but was unsure how to do this. She said that her child, like most children, want things and will do whatever they can to achieve their desired ends including yelling and crying. It is very frustrating for an adult. What is the conscious way of dealing with children. Eckhart Tolle’s response was for the adult to be still. To listen to the child and not judge. Has anyone had luck with that? I have tried it with my cats but they can continue to put up a fuss for hours, it does not matter if I don’t respond to them. In fact, Pumpkin meows incessantly when I try to watch the webcast on my computer and distracts me so much that I decide to wait for the podcast and listen to it on my iPod.
Has anyone been able to get through to their kids using this method?

ISN’T IT CALLED IGNORING?
I JUST STARTED LAUGHING BECAUSE THIS MADE ME THINK OF WHEN I WALK PAST A CERTAIN HOUSE WITH MY DOG BRANDY; THE TWO DOGS START BARKING IN THEIR HOUSE MAKING A RUCKUS AND THEN THE LADY IS SHOUTING FOR THE DOGS TO SHUT UP….UPROARIOUSLY FUNNY!!!
I KNOW NONE OF THIS IS MUCH HELP BUT HE IS RIGHT….IT IS FINDING PEACE WITHIN IN TIMES OF STRESS/DISTRESS. LIKE IT IS OFTEN SAID…YOU CAN’T CONTROL OTHERS ONLY YOUR REACTION.
A SPRAY BOTTLE MAY HELP.

Yes, he says you can’t control others and I think we have all realized that in some way. Somehow we continue to hope that we can persuade others to change.
Do you purposely walk by that house with the two dogs just to see them start up with the noisy barking? I could see that is one way to spice up the day.

No not purposely….but Stroud isn’t very big and I walk through all the streets….I try to change my afternoon walk route each day. Isn’t if funny how parents and/or dog owners YELL AND SCREAM TO TELL THEIR DOGS/KIDS TO SHUT UP????? Hey, these pets are bored staying inside all day and need some excitement. They are just communicating. It doesn’t bother me one iota when Brandy barks at a passerby…I actually want her to do that…makes me feel safe.

No, not yet. My iPod has problems playing the podcast…there are these long pauses. And whenever there is a pause I start to fall asleep. A new iPod is on my list of things to get but I’m slowly working down my list.

I wish the iPod has a bookmarking feature. Do any of the new ones have it?
