- According to surveys, 15% of Americans say they are addicted to email.
- Of those who use portable devices to check email, 12% have checked their email at church.
- Even though 89% of Americans say that texting while driving is dangerous, 57% admit to doing it.
- Anyone remember my blog entry where I commented that cellphones are the new cigarettes? Well this just reinforces the idea: Just 2 weeks after smoking was banned in public enclosed areas in the UK, text messaging increased by 7.5 million! The steep increase in texting is attributed to smokers who need something to do with their hands when they can’t light up.

To me it is not an email addiction but a necessity. In dealing with business it is important to communicate clearly and be able to remember what one said. I use it for reference as much of my memory isn’t very accurate. I also feel as if I can be more descriptive and informative in an email. It is wonderful because one can communicate in their own time. Not only that but those attachments go a long way in daily businesses.
Cell phones I don’t need personally but a small businessman sure needs them as it is their connection to the business world, especially when they are on the road. It sure has helped us along the way. For other than business, I just enjoy it once in a while to send tender loving messages to my son who is so far away from me….just to let him know I am thinking of him.
I am all for modern technology when used responsibly and to aid a situation.
I, personally, don’t need people to make me happy nor am I dependent on others so a cell phone isn’t for me….I have a phone at home and a computer and that is all I need to communicate to my loved ones….but keep those cell phones handy because emergency situations do crop up expectantly…and that is one reason why we got one for our son. It is reassurance
